The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle is one of the oldest and most important written primary sources about Viking Age England. More specifically speaking, this source is used to examine how the Scandinavian mercenary became an integrated part of the Early-Medieval British Isles. Instead of Viking mercenary bands being made up of just Northmen, they also consisted of natives which is something unique to the Anglo-Saxon world.
