  • The Russian Primary Chronicle is one of the only primary sources that we have from the Rus perspective. In this project, the Chronicle is primarily used to provide historical context for mercenaries in Eastern Europe. In addition to that, it helps to show how these mercenaries reached Constantinople where they would become members of the Varangian Guard.
