  • Axel Somme is considered by most to be the grandfather of Scandinavian geography, therefore, no work on the environment of this area would be complete without at least acknowledging this book. For this project’s purposes, Somme’s work will be largely used to illustrate grand theoretical ideas instead of specific facts. While Somme’s ideas have stood the test of time, his data has not, and therefore his accounts are augmented by other specialists like W.R. Mead.
