The Annals of St. Bertin are primarily used in this project to better understand the relationship between Scandinavian mercenaries and their Frankish employers. In particular, it was helpful in fleshing out how various traits which are specific to the Franko-Nordic mercenary like mistrust, unpopular public image and whether it was truly worth it or not to employ these soldiers.
