Overview
The following analysis of the Ohio Board of Film Censorship (1913-1954) focuses on the years 1915-1916. The primary documents being examined are called Bulletins, a weekly collection of all the eliminations requested of films. The first part of this project focuses upon the Bulletins from September 1915-February 1916, analyzing them with a combination of textual and data visualization tools. The second part of the project is the spatial analysis and is an interactive story map about the development of movie theaters in Columbus Ohio (where the Board was located) from 1900-1950. The final part of the project is an examination of the eliminations ordered of the 1915 Charlie Chaplin film Shanghaied.
